Heath Allen

Heath Allen started at WDSU in 1994 as anchor of the midday news. He now reports on a wide range of issues around New Orleans and southeast Louisiana, including follow-ups to his award-winning coverage of Hurricane Katrina.

Heath graduated with a degree in broadcast management from Northeast Louisiana University in 1978. He began his career in television in 1968 as a reporter and phototgrapher for KNOE-TV in Monroe. He has since worked as a reporter, anchor, managing editor and documentary producer at television stations throughout Louisiana.

He's also reported from Iraq, Kuwait, Bosnia, Honduras and Nicaragua, among other places.

Heath lives in New Orleans with his wife, award-winning journalist Janet Gross, and three of his seven children (the other four are grown).

In his free time, Heath is a musician, emcee, motivational speaker and Children's Hospital volunteer.
