LaTonya Norton

LaTonya Norton joined the WDSU NewsChannel 6 news team in April 2006. Born in Minden, La., her childhood was spent both in Homer, La., and San Francisco.

A graduate of the University of Louisiana in Monroe, she majored in Radio/TV/Film and Speech Communication. Her career in broadcasting began in college when she was chosen as anchor for the school television station. She later attended graduate school at Jackson State University and hosted several programs for the campus television station. She continued graduate studies at University of Alabama in Huntsville.

LaTonya came to New Orleans from WHNT-TV in Huntsville, Ala. There she anchored the morning and noon programs and reported. She covered breaking news stories and various other stories. She was also part of the station's investigative team.

Before arriving in Huntsville, she worked at WTOK-TV in Meridian, Miss., where she served as weekend anchor and reporter. Also in Meridian, she worked at WMDN/WGBC as a reporter/photographer. LaTonya has received an Associated Press Award for outstanding Public Affairs Reporting.

She's a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising, reading and volunteering in the community.
