Taslin Alfonzo joined WDSU in August 2006 as a reporter.She comes from KRIV in Houston, Texas where she was the morning/noon co-anchor and reporter. While there, she co-anchored the station's news coverage of such major events as Operation Iraqi Freedom; the first Enron fraud trial; and the capture of Saddam Hussein.Taslin is fluent in Spanish, and she was able to co-anchor the one year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in a one-hour special in Spanish for KRIV.
She is of Venezuelan descent. She grew up in Jefferson Parish and attended Kehoe-France and Dominican High School.She is a graduate of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.Taslin is an Emmy Award winning news anchor. The National Academy of Television’s Lone Star Chapter chose her as the top news anchor in Texas for 2004. Taslin is a member of the National Television Academy and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, working out and dancing salsa and merengue.
