SCHRIEVER, La. -- A single-vehicle crash killed a Houma man Thursday morning.Police responded to the crash in Schriever on LA-24 North at about 6:30 a.m. They said the man was ejected from his vehicle and died anywhere between 3:50 a.m. and 6 a.m.The crash happened in the front of the Schriever fire station.
Police said a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling north on LA-24 at a high rate of speed when it entered a left curve. The driver, Mitch Gregoire, 23, of Houma, ran off the right side of the roadway, went into a ditch and struck a culvert.Police said the Chevrolet traveled through the air, struck another ditch and then struck a utility pole before coming to rest.The vehicle rolled over, police said, and Gregoire, not wearing a seat belt, was ejected.Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this crash, police said. Blood will be drawn and processed by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner's Office.Gregoire was pronounced dead at the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner's Office and toxicology is pending analysis.
