Jordan's New Job Part Of Resignation Deal

Former Orleans Parish District Attorney Eddie Jordan will work as a consultant for the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation.

Foundation President Robert Stellingworth said the job was part of a package for Jordan leaving the district attorney's office.

The business community will pay for his part-time work, though Stellingworth wouldn't say how much Jordan would be paid.

Jordan, who is black, resigned after his office faced a $3 million judgment stemming from a discrimination lawsuit brought by fired white employees.

He has been widely criticized for lack of effectiveness as violent crime has soared in New Orleans.

Along with freezing some of the office's bank accounts, plaintiffs in the case asked the city of New Orleans to outline exactly how much money it sends to the office.

Clement Donelon, attorney for the workers fired by Jordan shortly after he took office, said he is trying to find out when and how the city pays the district attorney's office.
