With the passing of the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina's Gulf Coast landfall, WDSU's award-winning public affairs program "6 On Your Side Live" concluded its 19-month run as a companion to our weeknight editions of NewsChannel 6 at 10.

For the better part of two years, we have been privileged to enjoy unprecedented access to a time period reserved for network programming. We could not have presented "6 On Your Side Live" without the understanding and support of our partners at NBC, and we thank them for their contribution to the cause.

We thank you, as well, for your support of this remarkable program.

In developing "6 On Your Side Live," Norman Robinson and our team of journalists sought a new means to contribute to the ongoing community discussion. Our pursuit of that mission led to the creation of special segments and the discovery of people -- in and around New Orleans -- who could offer unique knowledge and insights. We will continue to draw upon those resources for NewsChannel 6 reports throughout the day.

Additionally, WDSU has announced its commitment to a series of primetime news specials to focus on the issues of greatest concern.

We hope you'll join us, as Norman would say, "from Studio A" for the most comprehensive news broadcasts in town.

We promise, now and always, 6 is On Your Side.

Jonathan Shelley
News Director
