Tropical Storm Gustav is still below hurricane strength as it moves Westward across Jamaica. It’s still forecast to gain hurricane strength by Friday afternoon. Then Gustav is forecast to become a major hurricane over the Gulf of Mexico by Sunday afternoon. The latest forecast track hasn’t changed from the Thursday morning forecast except that it puts Gustav across the La. coast in SW Terrebonne Parish earlier Tuesday morning. It’s forecast to be a Category 3 hurricane as it makes landfall. Many things could change the path of Gustav and his strength in the days to come but preparations should be completed so that, if evacuation proves necessary, you’ll be ready to go.
